Best Friends
There are times when you won’t see eye to eye,
There are occasions where you will make each other cry,
But some friendships really stand the test of time,
Some will be with you until the day you die.
Life is tough and communication is a must,
Perspectives and feelings can shake trust,
But if you are true to each other and have something pure,
It’s a winning hand in this game of life for sure.
Friends are chosen family and needed for you to grow,
Needed for you to know, who you are so you can show,
Your best colours and face tough times together,
For with each other you will withstand any weather
Happy 60th Dad
Happy 60th birthday Daddio,
Where the hell did those years go,
You’re clocking up the miles now,
But that young man’s still in there somehow,
I still remember those hoops in your ears,
Fag out your mouth, and your car with 4 gears,
Those bloody ripped jeans,
And scrawny knock knees,
Who’d believe it now,
With a belly so round.
Joking I am,
You’re a stellar old man.
Im sorry I’ve not been around,
But I’m happy to see you settled down.
You’ve grown a beautiful family,
And yes that includes me,
Want to tell you how proud I am,
That you’re my old man.
I know you’re always there if I need you,
Although I don’t often call on that, true,
I hope that you can forgive me of that,
For a long time I’ve been a miserable twat.
Now I’m closer to home,
I hope to see you transition and grow,
Here’s to the next 60 years,
Haha I know, I just brought you to tears,
Don’t worry I’m sure you won’t have to endure,
As many as that, but here’s to many more laughs,
You should be proud of all you’ve achieved,
And if not, you can at least me proud of me.
Uncle
Thank You Dearest Uncle,
For everything you do,
For all the wonderful memories,
And a love so true.
I remember the books you made me,
The experiences you gave me,
From painting Welsh scenery,
To the Lady Lever gallery.
You’ve always seen me through,
Thanks for all you’ve done,
It’s in no small part to you,
How far in life I’ve come.
Thanks for always being around,
A real gem amongst men,
Please know I am so proud,
To call you my Uncle Ben.

Eternal, restless and ever searching.
To limitless depths are roots unearthing.

Yet intertwined,
So close,

Bereavement
Grief is a bitch, expected or not.
My head just floating,
My stomach in a knot.
But what of the heart?
A light gone dark?
One day you vanished.
How am I supposed to manage?
What becomes of me?
How can I remain.
Knowing my life will never quite be the same.
What becomes of me?
How can I stay sane.
With one less cheerleader in my lane.
What was it you used to say.
Those words that comforted me that day.
Ah yes, I remember.
And I remember that sweater.
The soft, cosy feel.
The smell, the love. I kneel.
I kneel in sadness, desperation and hope.
I do not, forever, want to mope.
Your love breathed so much life in me,
Values, beliefs, guidance on how to be.
You are my light,
My guide, my hope.
I’ll listen for you, feel for you.
I’ll find you in my heart.
Even though we are apart.
Your work of art.
Forever in my heart.
The life you painted.
The dreams you sated.
My gratitude belated.
In honour of the part of you that’s me,
Through me, this life, you still will see.
As I flaunt my influence, as I simply be.

The light in others, lucky enough to meet,
Such a loving presence, a person so sweet.

You offer a certain sparkle, a glitter, a glow.
I’m truly blessed to call you my friend,
